Nipple Conditions
A woman’s nipples are important to her body image, sexuality, and ability to breast feed. A common condition is nipples that are inverted (do not protrude). There is a small slit or depression in the areola where the nipple would normally be. For most women the main concern is the cosmetic appearance. Inverted nipples can be corrected by a simple surgical procedure.
A woman may also seek advice about surgery to reduce nipple or areola size, or for complete nipple reconstruction following mastectomy (removal of the breast). Nipple surgery may be combined with other breast operations such as breast augmentation or reduction.
