Nose Surgery

(Rhinoplasty)

The nose is the central feature of the face. Many people are self-conscious of the appearance their nose. Rhinoplasty is a very common plastic surgery procedure that involves reshaping the external appearance of the nose.

Rhinoplasty can be a complex procedure involving multiple steps in order to bring about the desired changes. The nose may be increased or decreased in size, the shape of the tip, the bridge and/or the nostrils may be changed as may the angle between the nose and the upper lip. Rhinoplasty is often combined with septoplasty, a procedure to correct abnormalities of the internal nasal septum that can cause breathing difficulties. Rhinoplasty can also restore shape and symmetry following trauma to the nose.

As with most plastic surgery procedures, careful assessment and planning and good communication between surgeon and patient is required to achieve the best results. When this occurs rhinoplasty can greatly enhance self-confidence and esteem.
