Breast Reduction
(Reduction mammaplasty)
Having large breasts can cause many women to experience physical and emotional discomfort. Physical problems include backache, neck pain, grooves in the shoulders (from bra straps) and rashes under their breasts. Many women also feel self-conscious about their breast size and experience difficulty coping with unwanted attention. This can lead to emotional distress and avoidance of certain activities or situations. Some of the most frequent complaints of women with large breasts include finding it very difficult to find fashionable clothes that fit properly, and it can be difficult to exercise.
Breast reduction surgery (reduction mammaplasty) involves removal of excessive breast tissue and skin to reduce the weight and size of the breasts. At the same time the breasts are lifted and reshaped to maintain a feminine appearance. This results in a better proportioned body and breasts that are easier to live with.
Breast reduction surgery has a high rate of patient satisfaction and most women report that they wish they had done it earlier.
