Reconstructive Surgery
The need for reconstructive surgery may arise from a wide range of processes including birth defects, trauma, disease, infections and tumours. The surgery aims to restore both appearance and function to a given body area. Although often challenging, reconstructive surgery can be extremely rewarding for both the patient and surgeon.
Common examples of reconstructive surgery performed by Dr Boorer include breast reconstruction following cancer, facial reconstruction following removal of skin cancers and correction of children’s conditions including cleft lip and palate.
There are numerous other types of reconstructive surgery that can be performed. Each patient is often unique in their requirements. For complex cases Dr Boorer will often work with other medical specialists and health care professionals to achieve the best possible outcome.
